S. Y. Bancorp, Inc., with $1.6 billion in assets, was incorporated in 1988 as a bank holding company.  It is the parent company of Stock Yards Bank & Trust Company, which was established in 1904 in Louisville, Kentucky, and has offices in metropolitan Louisville, Indianapolis and Cincinnati.  The Company also offers trust and investment services, with $1.3 billion in assets under management at the end of 2008, which sharply differentiates S.Y. Bancorp from many competitors.

For 20 consecutive years, through 2007, S.Y. Bancorp's conservative management style and patient market expansion strategies produced steadily higher earnings per share.  Although this trend was interrupted in 2008 by the strongest industry headwinds seen since the Great Depression, earnings per share dipped only slightly in 2008 from the record amount posted in 2007.  Also, the Company's foundation and fundamentals developed over the past two decades continued to drive a solid year-over-year performance highlighted by notable growth in both loans and deposits.  These accomplishments, underpinned by a strong TARP-free capital base, resulted in substantial net income for the year and continued high returns on average assets and equity - at levels that would be considered among the industry's best even in ordinary years, further differentiating S.Y. Bancorp from many of its peer financial institutions.

A native of Louisville, David graduated from the University of Louisville. He was employed by the international accounting firm of KPMG, LLC while obtaining his CPA certificate. In 1985 he joined Stock Yards Bank & Trust Company as Controller. David was named President in 1992 of both the Bank and the holding company, and in 2005 he was appointed Chairman and CEO.

Ja earned his Business Administration degree from Bellarmine University. He joined Stock Yards Bank & Trust in 1996 to develop a Private Banking Group for the bank. In addition, he directed the expansion into the Indianapolis and Cincinnati markets. He was named President and appointed to the Company's Board of Directors in 2008 and is responsible for overseeing commercial banking, private banking, all retail banking and SYB's residential mortgage company.
